How assured is your organisation?
This review takes around fifteen minutes and covers ten areas of organisational health, with three questions in each. It can be completed by a chair, trustee, chief executive or senior leader on their own, or by a board or leadership team together.
You can complete it as many times as you like. You may find it helpful to try it on your own first, and then use it with your board or leadership team.
‘Don’t know’ is a valid answer, and often an important one: if a question cannot be answered with confidence, that is a finding in itself.
Your answers stay on this screen. Nothing is sent to me or stored anywhere, and at the end you can print or save the report.
At the end, you will receive a red, amber and green (RAG) rated report. It shows your organisation’s overall level of assurance, a rating for each of the ten areas, and the questions that may benefit from further discussion.

How to read this report
Your answers give each of the ten areas a colour rating, and together they give an overall rating for your organisation:
- Red: minimal assurance
- Amber: limited assurance
- Yellow: reasonable assurance
- Green: substantial assurance
Each answer is scored (Yes 3, Partly 2, Don’t know 1, No 0) and each area is rated on its total. An area is only rated as substantial assurance when every answer in it is Yes.
Under ‘Questions to discuss’, only the questions you answered Partly, Don’t know or No are listed, so you can see where to focus first.
This review is a starting point for discussion, not an audit, and it cannot replace an independent assessment.
