Feedback is essential, but not easy, neither to give nor to receive. As a leader, creating a feedback-friendly environment is a critical skills for building relationships with individual, developing relationships between team members and in achieving organisational effectiveness.

 

  1. Inviting Feedback: Actively seek feedback. Don’t wait for the feedback juggernaut to mow you down. Treat it like a powerful tool for ongoing growth.
  2. Reflective Practice: Integrate regular self-reflection into your routine to make it manageable, practicable and achievable
  3. Trusted Colleagues: Build a circle of trusted colleagues who provide honest, constructive feedback to support your growth and development.
  4. Future-Focused Feedforward: Ask what can you do more of, less of and do differently next time. Feedback about past things you can’t change isn’t helpful.
  5. Selective Listening: Only take feedback from people whose opinion you respect. Avoid overwhelming and unsolicited input from the haters.
