A few days ago, The Guardian shared an article about the big ‘return to the office’ debate.

I’d been thinking about it for a long time, but until then, I hadn’t been able to put my thoughts together, but this is what I came up with….

I don’t think we need to go to the #office to do our jobs, I think we need to go to the office to emotionally and socially connect with our colleagues

And that’s it! That’s exactly what I think!

For people who are able to carry out their roles remotely, there is absolutely no need whatsoever to go to an office.

There is, however, an absolute need to connect with our colleagues. People will need this to a greater or lesser extent.

As an #introvert, 1 day a week is great for me. For an #extrovert 3 days a week may be an absolute minimum.

If organisations want to have #diversity of thought and #innovation, they need to be able to respond to the needs of their people.

If they don’t, their people will choose with their feet and go and find jobs elsewhere, somewhere with bigger thinkers.
