Over the last 9 months, finding a new job has been at the forefront of my mind. I started looking for a new job in January 2025 and I can confirm; the whole job search process is as bad as they say it is.
Join me as I share my experience and reflections on a system that’s lost it’s humanity.

I thought, ‘I’ll start looking for a job in about April/May time’. My contract was due to terminate at the end of July. I didn’t want to start looking too soon, as I didn’t want to be in the position of finding something and needing to leave before I wanted to go.
But, other colleagues whose contracts were finishing before mine, started looking in January. And you know what it’s like: FOMO kicked in, so I started looking too.
And boy, am I glad I did!
The process can broadly be encapsulated in the words rejection and renewal, with ghosting, laborious and soul-destroying sitting underneath as sub-headings.
To start
– finding jobs that I wanted to apply for, in organisations that I wanted to work in, that matched my skill-set were harder to find than hen’s teeth.
