Yesterday I watched the TED talk by Dominic Price about happiness and how to score it.
His presentation is empassioned and heartfelt. It really struck a chord. It’s only 15 minutes. Definitely worth a watch.
Dominic suggests that happiness can be measured across 4 themes in his Personal Moral Inventory: productivity and profit, people, planet and purpose.
You can score each theme as -1, 0 or 1. It’s not a common way to score so you have to think a bit.
The measuring of these four themes isn’t cumulative. Two pluses don’t cancel out two minuses.
The idea is that the scoring helps you identify your happiness. Once you identify it, you can do something about it. Which brings be right back to self-awareness, as so much often does..
It takes some reflection to identify your score. With 0s and 1s, there is no room to hide like there is with about a 6 or 7 out of 10!
It’s a great tool for pinpointing areas you want to work on. Me? I’m working on my purpose first and then the planet
Here’s wishing you 1, 1, 1, 1!
